update November 2009 We who see a vision of a beautiful, creative, equal, empowering society are still working towards that goal and holding the vision. It has never been easy - and it's tempting to be frustrated and saddened, especially now. Our hopes were so high - and the contrast between the hopes of the people and the willingness of the wealthy and their politicians to change is so very drastic. I do believe the Barak Obama would like to see more change (although many of my fellow progressives do not share that belief). But so far the changes have not been what I had hoped for. Whether for fear of loss of political power, or a very real threat of meeting the fate of President John Kennedy, Obama's has been a first year of compromise. I am deeply disappointed, yet I realize that it is a daunting task to take on the well entrenched corporatocracy that is America. Such is the nature of human evolution at the point in time. People who have no vision hang onto power desperately, as if it's their very life at stake. Although they own much, they are always fearful of loss. Others who allow anger and rage against the wealthy elite to consume them don't realize that our energy is all important. We must not fight against evil so much as we work toward good. It is subtle and easy to lose sight of this, but remember: to fight against something actually makes that thing stronger. This is why we choose to work towards Peace, or for equality, and not focus on being against war or against tyranny. We choose to grow more loving, more kind, more aware. This is a Conscious Choice. I
once observed an amusing experience between a mother and her pubescent
daughter. The mother wanted the daughter to watch an anti-war video,
and the girl wasn't interested. They began to argue, growing nastier
toward each other by the moment. It was actually funny... As we maintain our energy in love, even in the face of some very fearful and hateful beings...we must remember who we truly are: We are the Universe in physical form, in various stages of waking up and remembering OurSelf. It is this awareness that allows us to be joyful even as we weep for the cruelty that exists now. It allows us to feel saddened rather than angry, amused rather than outraged. We hold ourselves to a higher standard and move toward manifestation of a healthier more joyful society and world. |

update:Election Day, 2008 What a beautiful day/night! To see the millions of people wordwide dancing, singing, and weeping for joy at the election of Barak Obama was a once-in-a-lifetime experience. After 35 years of conservatism (since Reagan's first attacks upon the poor and middle class) this is a day I will never forget. And change of this magnitude coming to the USA can mean change worldwide... our policies on the environment, politics, wars and covert actions affect everyone. And if Barak is true to his potential and his vision -- his election is a sign of our continued evolution toward a more fabulous reality. Tonight people are saying, "I wanted to knock on my neighbors' doors and hug them!" One guy wrote online just moments ago..."You couldn't drive in our neighborhood in LA because everyone had jumped out of their cars and were dancing in the streets!" We watched the results on MSNBC with stunned joy - after two stolen elections, this is all the more stunning. Tears on our cheeks, we smiled at each other in disbelief...even though we had visualized this result, it was still amazing. As an archetype, Bush represented us at our worst: fearful, greedy, selfish, unconscious, arrogant. As an archetype, Obama represents us at our best: intelligent, hopeful, compassionate, conscious. Both men are, of course, more complex than that, but as archetypes they say something about us, our own charactors and that of our nation. Tonight we said that we are ready to ask more of ourselves and create a more beautiful reality. Wow.

Update May 06: I wrote the article below quite some time ago, and W (and his handler, Cheney) have since shown themselves to be far more destructive and ego maniacal than any of us knew. Now it is more important than ever that the citizens of the United States find a way to impeach this man, and his entire group of enablers/handlers. It is sad that the US Congress has allowed a small group of dangerous and powerful individuals to do whatever they please - including illegal war, officially sanctioned torture, and illegal spying upon citizens by the NSA and all branches of the military - without barely a whimper spoken in defense of morality, kindness, and consciousness. The few who have stood up have been shot down by those who allow this tragedy to be played out. Our media at one time were independant, owned by hundreds of different local companies and individuals. In the past this media would have investigative reporters who would have dug into all these scandals. Today our entire US media are all owned by 6 corporations who's 6 CEOs are conservative wealthy white men. These giant corporations are financially entertwined withthe military industrial complex and have benefited from keeping us "entertained" rather than educated. Sigh. Of course, empires come and go...the challenge for us is to keep a focus on the big picture, while remaining engaged and aware of these political changes. Our species is evolving, and the negative continues to parade itself before us, daring us to finally CHANGE our behavior. Can we finally outgrow greed, power lust, and reactive knee-jerk submission to those who call themselves "authorities"? Can we love ourselves enough to grow beyond conditioning? What is our true potential? How amazingly beautiful, loving and creative can we become? Somehow, we need to be firm in our refusal to allow small minded creatures to "rule" over us, while remaining in a loving state of consciousness - because anger will only put us down into their vibrational reality. I do believe we are wonderful enough to do this. Please visit some of the progressive websites listed below, and support those who are working for change. |

What is up with GW Bush? - March 2002 When we understand that all of Life is One - it becomes obvious that we simply cannot consider our own personal evolution apart from that of our Earth, the well being of all species --and our own human society. Without going into a long drawn out discussion, it's evident that a society is a collective expression of a group of humans, and it forms us as much as we form it. Human society is as functional or dysfunctional as its members...and It's this human society I want to discuss today -- specifically the society where I live, in the USA. By observing our society we are shown the places where we collectively are strong or weak, areas where we excel and areas where we have neglected our growth. Our societies reflect and exaggerate our strengths and weakness. Ditto for our choice of politicians. I'm not an overly politically minded individual. Plato felt that those who desire positions of leadership and power are showing a lack of self awareness and consciousness - and should never be allowed to acquire any type of power. His answer was to "draft" people with a humanitarian and spiritual energy --who naturally would not want the job -- and convince them to govern for a short time for the love of the people. So when I see these self appointed (and in this case, non-elected) "officials" such as G. W. Bush behaving in ways that are arrogant and presumptuous, I have to look to the shortcomings in myself and in all of us. In order for this person to exist in an elevated position in our society, there is something wrong with us. George W. Bush is, in effect, our collective "shadow".
I see the Bush administration's greed and irresponsible attitude toward other human cultures, other species, and the earth itself -- and I see the ugly fact that we are all complicit in these destructive attitudes. I resolve to be more aware of my attitudes, my lifestyle choices, my purchasing decisions, my diet -- for it is said that people get the "rulers" they deserve. If this is true, we have much self improvement to do. In short, I believe this kind of person is in the spotlight to show us our own weaknesses and allow us to better ourselves. All that said, I believe GW has accomplished this task brilliantly. Therefore, perhaps we as a society are outgrowing him. If you agree, please sign the official petition to remove him so that we can all move on to a healthier expression of our Being. :-) |
